As a business owner, one of the most rewarding aspects is the ability to give back. There are so many ways to give back and if I can incorporate that into my daily life, even better. Traveling as often as I do, I began to acquire quite a stock of complimentary toiletries found in hotel rooms which I was going to donate to the Homeless Shelter.
As I was flipping through Journey Magazine, recently I came across Soap for Hope. The perfect destination for my growing stock of toiletries. AAA Washington has been running the Soap for Hope donation drive for seven years. The drive runs from November 1st to December 31st, but donations are accepted all year. Over the past six years, AAA Washington has collected almost 500,000 toiletry items for charities in Washington as well as Northern Idaho. The campaign emphasizes how important a shower is to boost self-confidence in these women and men who do not necessarily always have this luxury.
The article found in Journey Magazine outlines ways that everyone can give to this campaign. Most people have unused deodorant, toothpaste, lotions, shampoo, soap, etc. each, and every donation makes a difference. Soap for Hope donations is accepted at all AAA stores in Washington and northern Idaho. What are ways you have found to give back to your community?
